Reddit takes over popular Reddit app Alien Blue
Reddit has acquired the popular Reddit client Alien Blue for iOS and hired its developer, Jase Morissey. Existing users of the app will have to download it again as it will now be distributed via Reddit’s developer account.
Reddit has confirmed the acquisition of the app after rumors of the takeover circulated. It is unknown what the popular website paid for the app, but it is clear that the developer of the app, Jase Morissey, is now employed by Reddit.
Since the Alien Blue app is now distributed through Reddit’s App Store account, all users will have to download the app again. In addition, it is not possible to bring the Pro upgrade of the app. To compensate users, the Pro upgrade will be free for the next week.
The iPad app is also free for the time being, until the functionality of the iPad app is transferred to the iPhone app. From then on, the iPhone version will be a universal app. Finally, the logo of the app changes. It is unknown if Reddit also has plans for an Android app acquisition.
