Razer will release the update to Android 8.1 Oreo for his Razer Phone within a month. That says the manufacturer. A preview of the update can already be installed for users. Razer has skipped version 8.0.

The update should be released mid-end of April for current users of the Razer Phone, reports the manufacturer . The version that Razer has put online is according to the manufacturer a developer preview and it is only possible to flash it via a factory image. In doing so, all user data is lost and the process requires a PC. The developer version offers support for Project Treble . That is standard with phones that appear with Android 8.0 or higher, but when updates are allowed manufacturers to choose whether they support it.
Razer initially wanted an update to Android 8.0, but decided to skip it to directly Android 8.1 to to offer. The Razer Phone came out in November last year with the outdated Android 7.1 and still runs that software version.
