Qualcomm presents 10nm-soc for midrange smartphones

Qualcomm presented the Snapdragon 710, a soc made on 10nm process for midrange smartphones. The soc has an Adreno 616-gpu, which allows viewing of 4k videos with hdr.

The Snapdragon 710 has eight Kryo 360 processor cores at a maximum of 2.2 GHz. Kryo is the name of the Cortex cores modified by Qualcomm. It is the first time that a soc has Kryo 360 nuclei; the Snapdragon 845 for high-end models has Kryo 385 cores. The Kryo 360 cores are based on Cortex A75 and A55. Presumably, Qualcomm Samsung will produce the soc. Samsung also makes other 10nm socs for the American processor designer.
The Snapdragon 710 falls between the Snapdragon 660 and 845 and has a X15 modem from Qualcomm itself. It supports 4g with 4×4 MiMo for a maximum download speed of 800Mbit / s and 150Mbit / s up, with support for 256qam modulation among others.
The soc supports screens with a maximum resolution of 3360×1440 pixels; that is a 21: 9 ratio that does not currently occur on smartphones. The most common aspect ratios are 19.5: 9, 19: 9 and 18: 9.
According to Qualcomm the Snapdragon 710 also has a ‘multi core AI Engine’ for performing calculations via a neural network on the soc. Many manufacturers use that kind of chips for image recognition in the camera app.
The Snapdragon 710 is already at manufacturers of smartphones and phone makers will be the first models with this soc will according to Qualcomm within about a month on the market.
