Qualcomm has announced two socs for internet-of-things and robotics. The Snapdragon 600E and 410E are derived from smartphone socs from the manufacturer’s line-up and are intended for echo equipment and security cameras, among other things.

Although the socs can be purchased separately, they are not intended for people who want to mess around with the hardware at home. The minimum order is two thousand, according to the supplier Arrow’s site. The 410E costs a maximum of around seventeen dollars each, the price of the 600E is not yet known.

According to Qualcomm, the socs can be used for a variety of industrial and Internet-of-things applications. The processor designer mentions a mobile ultrasound device and a body-worn camera as examples.

The 600E has an image signal processor that can process images with up to 21 megapixels and supports stereoscopic 3D. The 410E comes up to a maximum of thirteen megapixels, the manufacturer says. Qualcomm promises to continue to provide and support both socs until at least 2025.

The socs have specs that correspond to those of the smartphone variants with the same type number. The 600E has four Kryo cores from Qualcomm itself with a maximum clock speed of 1.5GHz, assisted by an Adreno 320 GPU. The 410E has four Cortex A53 processor cores at up to 1.2GHz with an Adreno 306 GPU.
