PUBG Corp Acknowledges Shortcomings In Performance Improvements

The developer of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds admitted in a post on Steam that it fell short in improving performance. The creator now focuses more on three priorities: improving performance, server optimizations and fighting cheaters.

According to PUBG Corp. Some improvements have been made in recent times, but have not been enough to listen to players complaining about performance issues in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. The developer acknowledges that during the development of the latest patches, many more complaints have been received about, for example, significant drops in frame rates, stuttering images and overall slow performance. According to PUBG Corp. these problems are partly due to the client and partly to the servers.

The maker has some solutions available that, according to their own words, are quite easy to implement. For example, too many effects are still produced when vehicles drive quickly over different types of terrain, leading to overloaded GPUs. These effects are likely to be reduced in the future. Adjustments are also made to the way lighting effects are processed.

Optimizations are made at the client, for example in the form of the movements of opponents and vehicles in the distance, which the player cannot see. The animations of jumping through windows and over walls are also improved, which should especially benefit players with a PC without powerful hardware. Furthermore, improvements are made during the parachute phase to prevent drops in fps.

In terms of server processing, the network code is improved, among other things. The latency is also reduced, so that the actions of players must be seen by others faster. In addition, items will spawn faster on the map.

It has not been announced when the improvements will be implemented. PUBG Corp. does announce that the new, smaller Sanhok map will be available before the end of June. The test servers for this map have so far been a place to experiment with the various improvements.
