The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has temporarily banned PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in the country after receiving multiple complaints about the game. Thus, it would be addictive and a waste of time, but also have a bad impact on children.

PTA says it has received complaints from ‘different segments of the population’ and has decided to temporarily ban the game in response to these complaints. According to the complaints, PUBG would have a “serious negative impact on children’s physical and psychological health.”

The authority also points to ‘recent media stories’, which would indicate that people have committed suicide because of the game. It is not clear to which news items the authority refers. A judge has ordered the PTA to look into the PUBG issues. There will be a hearing on the game on July 9. The PTA is now asking the Pakistani public to give their views on PUBG, they can contact the authority until July 10.

This is not the first time that a government agency has banned PUBG in a country. This has already happened in Nepal, for example. The Nepalese Supreme Court later withdrew from this after a group of lawyers filed a petition. In China, the game is managed by Tencent, which is responsible for ensuring that the game adheres to the values of the Chinese government.
