Manufacturer Panasonic has shown a transparent OLED screen with a wooden frame at a trade fair in Milan, Italy. The electronics of the screen are in the frame, so that users only see a glass plate with OLEDs. The product is not yet on the market.

Panasonic wants to see how the market reacts with the demonstration and then decide whether a product like this will come out, the company says. The transparent OLED screen is on display at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, which started Tuesday and will last until Sunday. The screen is on the stand of Vitra, a Swiss interior brand with which Panasonic has collaborated.

The company has not disclosed any specs of the screen, such as the resolution of the display or the maximum brightness of the OLEDs. In addition, it is unclear how users can get images on the display; nothing is known about connections or support for wireless transfer of images. In addition to the OLEDs, there is also lighting in the frame for the ambiance around the piece of furniture. Panasonic has been making OLED TVs for some time now.
