OnLeaks has published renders of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra. These show, among other things, the large camera island of the smartphone, which Xiaomi produces in collaboration with Leica. Xiaomi will officially announce the phone in July.

On the back of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is a rectangular camera island, according to renders that OnLeaks shares with tech website Zouton, containing a circular part where the actual camera sensors are. According to OnLeaks and Zouton, the phone has seven ‘cut-outs’ and will include a primary 50-megapixel camera, a 48-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide angle lens and a telephoto camera with a resolution of 48 megapixel. Xiaomi makes the cameras in collaboration with Leica.

The phone will also have a 6.6 “amoled screen with a qhd+ resolution, an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel is said to achieve a maximum peak brightness of 1700 cd/m². The screen will have curved edges and on the top is a 20-megapixel front camera for selfies.

According to OnLeaks, the device will be 161.9 mm high, 74.3 mm wide and 9.5 mm thick, or 13.1 mm thick including the camera island. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 soc, but Zouton and OnLeaks are not confirming that.

Xiaomi already confirmed its partnership with Leica last month, when the company said it would announce its first Leica-branded smartphone in July. That will probably be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The device does not yet have a concrete announcement date. It is also unknown when the phone will hit the market or what it will cost.
