Nvidia seems to be about to release the Shield TV in a compact dongle form. The cylindrical media player appeared on a Canadian Newegg page, which Nvidia will supply with an extensive remote control.

The dongle that appeared at Newegg is simply called Shield TV. The device has a housing that looks like a black tube with a length of 16.5 cm and a height of 4 cm. The product page is now offline, but there are screenshots on Reddit, among others. The dongle has an HDMI connection and a micro-SD card slot on one side and an Ethernet port and on and off buttons on the other.

A Tegra X1 + soc is present in the housing and the stick also supports dual-band WiFi-ac, Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos. Nvidia mentions, among other things, the possibility of scaling up HD content to 4k as one of the applications of the dongle. On the product page, the dongle is combined with an extensive remote control, including a Netflix button and a microphone for voice control.

The player briefly appeared online after Amazon accidentally unveiled the Shield TV Pro. This media player has the same housing as the current Shield TV, also contains a Tegra X1+ and is combined with the same remote control as the Shield TV dongle.

Newegg quotes a price of $200 for the dongle and remote. If it concerns Canadian dollars, that is converted and with VAT 165 euros.
