The next major update for No Man’s Sky is scheduled for July 24 and includes an extensive multiplayer mode. The free update comes simultaneously for the versions for the PC, the PlayStation 4 and the upcoming Xbox One version of the game.

Developer Hello Games has tested the multiplayer mode in the past six months. In the mode, small groups of players can do the same things that are normally only possible in single player. How many players can play together at the same time is not yet clear.
The release of the update on July 24 was announced by Sean Murray of developer Hello Games in a broadcast of Microsoft’s Inside Xbox Live Stream. At the end of March, the update was announced, according to the studio, it is the biggest expansion for the game so far.
No Man’s Sky was released in August 2016 and did not appear to contain a multiplayer, despite the fact that the developer had suggested that players might encounter each other. A year later an update with a limited form of multiplayer appeared, in which players can see each other as light balls and communicate.
The release date of the update is also the day that the Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky is released. Earlier, the developer had indicated that it would appear in the summer. In addition to the multiplayer mode, the Xbox version also includes all previously released expansions.
