Hello Games has released the big Echoes update for No Man’s Sky. Update 4.4 introduces a new race for the first time since the game’s release in 2016. The space battle system has also been deepened and a new storyline has been added to the game.

The Echoes update further deepens the existing space combat system in various ways. From now on, players can send extra energy to their engine, weapons or shield generator for more control over the spaceship. Freighters have been given individually destructible modules with the update, so that a player can take out such a ship more systematically. Furthermore, Capital ships can now be completely destroyed, allowing players to earn additional resources. Dreadnoughts from the new Outlaw faction feature a trench run mechanic that is likely inspired by the scenes of the same name from various Star Wars films.

Furthermore, the update introduces the Autophage race, a robot lifeform that counts as a faction. The Autophages have their own language that the player can learn. Players can obtain various cosmetic items and new tech from the race, including updated Exosuit upgrades. Finally, Hello Games adds the ability to recycle Multi-Tools. So far, players have been unable to get rid of this tool.

The update is now available for all versions of No Man’s Sky. The game is available for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X and S, Nintendo Switch and on PC via Steam and Xbox Game Pass, among others.
