New Humble Mozilla Bundle Offers PC Games in Browser
All games in the new Humble Mozilla Bundle can be played at least partly in the browser. The source code was compiled to Asm.js via the Emscripten compiler for this purpose. The games can also be downloaded as usual.
It is the first time that games in the Humble Bundle, a collection of games for which the buyer can decide how much he pays, can be played in the browser. Incidentally, these are demo versions of the games: for example, in Faster Than Light and Democracy 3 it is not possible to save games and Super Hexagon only offers one level.
Gamers are recommended to use the latest version of Firefox or Chrome to play the game. Those versions are best suited to the Mozilla-developed Asm.js, to which the games’ source code was ported via the Emscripten compiler.
The bundle, which can be purchased since Tuesday evening, currently contains eight games; a ninth game will be added later. The number of games a player gets depends on the amount he wants to put down. Buyers can donate a portion of the amount they pay for the bundle to Mozilla.
The bundle includes the indie hit Faster Than Light, in which players control a spaceship and must protect it from attacks. Also included is the puzzle game Super Hexagon, as well as the game Democracy 3, in which the player controls a country.
