Publisher Square Enix has announced that the upcoming Hitman game will be released in full episodic fashion. Previously, the publisher had said that the game would not be complete upon release, but emphasized that the game would indeed be a complete product.

Now Square Enix and the developer IO Interactive have announced that the structure of the game will be completely changed and will be released in several episodes. The first episode will be released on March 11 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. This episode includes an introductory mission and a location in Paris. This is followed by an episode in Italy in April and one in Morocco in May. Square Enix indicates that Hitman will receive new content every month thereafter in various locations in Thailand, the United States and, to conclude the season, Japan.

Previously, people’s pre-orders were canceled because the game’s shape had changed drastically. The focus on bringing an episodic whole and also episodic sales seems to have been the reason for this. The first episode costs $15 and each subsequent episode $10, or $60 can be prepaid. European prices are not yet known, but they will probably be equal to the dollar price.

Hitman was scheduled to be released in December 2015, but was delayed to allow for more content to be added to the game. Even then it had already been decided to release part of the game first and then the rest. This did not sit well with many people, as there was a feeling that IO Interactive would be selling an incomplete product. So now they’ve completely focused on bringing the game into parts, but have also split the price.

Hitman is the latest addition to the Hitman series in which the player takes on the role of Agent 47. The games mainly consist of missions in which Agent 47 has to perform his job as an assassin. According to the developers, the new addition to the series will focus more on more options for endings and solutions for missions in a freer environment. To get an idea of the game, a Hitman beta will start on February 12 on PS4 and on February 19 for PC. Access to the beta can be obtained by pre-ordering the game.
