MSI has released a fix for a blue screen of death with its LGA1700 motherboards on Windows 11. The issue was caused by a firmware setting related to Intel Hybrid Architecture. The fix is released via BIOS updates.

MSI says it has been investigating the cause of the problem together with Microsoft and Intel in recent weeks. According to the manufacturer the issue only occurs with Intel’s thirteenth generation Core i9 processors and certain versions of Windows 10 and 11. The company is releasing a new BIOS with an updated microcode. This is now available for the first motherboards. The company will release BIOS updates for more affected motherboards next week. The updated BIOS should be available for all MSI motherboards with Intel 600 or 700 chipset by the end of September.

The updated bios versions can be found on the MSI website. Users can look up their motherboard model and then download the BIOS. MSI does not mention specific version numbers, but recommends users look for September releases with a description that mentions the ‘Unsupported_Processor’ issue.
