MSI equips gaming monitors with RGB LEDs
MSI will be showing two 27″ monitors at CES that are equipped with a bezel with RGB LEDs divided into five zones. According to the manufacturer, the LEDs can be used to display notifications in games or programs such as Discord.
Both the MSI Optix MPG27C and Optix MPG27CQ have a 27″ VA panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The response time is 1ms and the monitors have a curvature of 1800R. MSI gives a contrast ratio of 3000:1.
There are differences in the resolution and maximum brightness. The MPG27C is a full-HD model and the CQ variant has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The full-HD screen has a maximum brightness of 250cd/m2, while the 1440p screen would reach 400cd/m2.
According to the manufacturer, the five zones of RGB LEDs under the screen work with SteelSeries Engine software and GameSense. This should make it possible, for example, to make countdown timers visually visible in games. The LEDs are also used to display notifications in programs such as Discord.
RGB LEDs are also incorporated into the logo on the back of the monitors. On the back is also a joystick for operating the OSD. MSI has not yet announced when the new Optix monitors will be released and what they will cost.
