Mozilla tests password manager for Firefox logins on iOS

As part of its Mobile Test Pilot program, Mozilla is experimenting with Firefox Lockbox, a password manager that can access credentials stored in Firefox to log into apps on iOS.

After installing Firefox Lockbox on iOS and signing in to a Firefox account, the app syncs the saved credentials with the Firefox browser via an encrypted connection. The app then displays the username and password information in a list, which the user can search and modify. Users can open the app with Face ID or Touch ID.

It is one of the first two experimental features for mobile, requiring users to install Mozilla’s Test Pilot add-on. It is not known whether Mozilla is also working on an Android version of Lockbox, but the organization does announce the arrival of Notes by Firefox. This is also an experimental feature that allows users to post notes in their browser after logging in with their Firefox account. The app syncs the notes encrypted between browsers, on both mobile and desktop.
