Motorola has announced that it will update the most recent smartphones in its product portfolio to Android 5.0 Lollipop. This includes the Moto X, Moto G and Moto E. A release date has not yet been announced.

Plans for software updates have been outlined by Motorola on its website, at the same time as the announcement of Google’s new Nexus smartphone and tablet, which will also run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is clear from the plans that Motorola gives all its recent smartphones an update to the new Android version.

This concerns the Moto X and the Moto G; both the 2013 and 2014 versions will receive an update to Android Lollipop. The cheaper device Moto E is also not skipped. Furthermore, recent American Droid devices will have access to the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system.

LG previously announced that it will provide the G2 and G3 with Android L. However, both LG and Motorola have not yet announced a date on which the rollout of the new software will start.
