Motorola announces Milestone 2
Motorola will release an Android 2.2 device in Europe with the Milestone 2. The smartphone is the successor to the original Milestone and will be released in the fourth quarter. Motorola has pre-installed its own Blur interface.
The Milestone 2 turns on a 1 GHz processor. Motorola does not mention which processor it is, but it probably concerns the OMAP3620 CPU, which is also built into the American version, the Droid 2. It is also possible to shoot photos with a 5-megapixel camera, which can also record video in 720p. Like its American equivalent, the Milestone 2 probably has 512MB of ram.
Furthermore, the Milestone 2, like its predecessor, has a physical qwerty keyboard. Motorola has also built in the possibility to communicate with equipment such as media players via dlna. In addition, WiFi in the form of 802.11n is available, and there is support for Bluetooth and 3G via UMTS.
Motorola’s new smartphone has the Blur interface, a skin that the manufacturer has placed over the Android operating system. Blur is mainly focused on integration with social networking sites. In addition, Motorola has Flash 10.1 pre-installed.
The Droid 2 was previously released by Motorola in the United States. The manufacturer also released the first Droid before the Milestone. Motorola also released the Droid X in the US. It is unknown whether there will also be a European variant of this.
