About 71 percent of the downloads of apps on Windows Phone are on devices with a working memory of 512MB. Microsoft has announced that. In addition, there are more downloads on the Lumia 520 than on all more expensive Windows Phones combined.

Nearly 30 percent of all downloaded apps will be on a Lumia 520, according to figures from Microsoft. This means that there are more downloads on the Lumia 520 than on all devices with at least 1GB of RAM combined: these include the Lumia 525, 820, 925, 930, 1020, 1320 and 1520, in addition to devices from other manufacturers such as the HTC 8X. In addition to the 520, many downloads also take place on the recent Lumia 530 and 630.

That information is important to developers, because some apps and games require a memory size of 1GB or more; they seem to miss out on a large part of potential downloads. Microsoft does not disclose sales figures for its various Lumia models, but has said several times that the cheaper devices do better. That also translates into numbers of downloads.
