Modder Eddie Zarick has created a laptop variant of the PlayStation 4 Pro and Slim, with 24 and 19-inch screens respectively. In any case, he will produce and sell the laptop version of the Slim in large numbers.

The 19″ screen of the ‘PlayBook 4 S’, or the Slim version, has a 720p resolution because Zarick was unable to find a full HD screen in that format. Nevertheless, he chose this format because he received positive feedback when he used it for his Xbox One S laptop variant in 2016. The modder has connected the console’s inputs and outputs and buttons to its own housing, in a video showing that, for example, the buttons for power and reset have been replaced. There are also integrated speakers, there is a video splitter for output to, for example, a television and the power adapter is built in.

Zarick emphasizes that the so-called PlayBook 4 S does not have a battery on board. That would make the system much too heavy and even then the battery life would not be long enough. Interested parties can buy the console laptop at the modder for about 1400 euros. However, there are still shipping costs and import duties, but he does not give an estimate of those costs on his website.

He also shows his PlayBook 4 Pro. It has a 24″ screen that does have a 1080p resolution. He doesn’t go into great detail about this variant, but what he does show is that the extra horizontal space in the laptop is filled by a built-in Android tablet. the user can use the PlayStation 4 app and thus also control the console. This variant was initially a one-off project by Zarick, but he does not rule out the possibility that he will also continue with the production of the Pro variant.

Finally, Zarick talks briefly about Scorpio, Microsoft’s upcoming 4k-capable console. He does not rule out the possibility that he also makes a laptop version of this console. The modder presents the two laptops on his YouTube channel. There are also other similar projects on display, such as the Xbook One, PlayBook 4, Xbook Duo and PlayBox 4 One Mk. II.
