Microsoft to sell Windows 10 on USB sticks

Microsoft will start selling the operating system on USB sticks after the release of Windows 10. The sticks can already be pre-ordered at Amazon, but it seems that they will only be delivered at the end of August.

On the American version of Amazon, the USB stick of Microsoft Windows 10 Home for $ 119 and Microsoft Windows 10 Pro for $ 199.99 for sale. Those are the regular prices that Microsoft previously communicated itself. Microsoft confirms to VentureBeat that the sale of the sticks will start shortly after the introduction of Windows 10.

That would be the same prices as Windows 8.1 in the United States. Earlier indications appeared that Windows 10 Home in Europe will cost 135 euros, which would make the OS more expensive in individual sales than Windows 8.1 Home, which costs 119 euros.

The USB sticks have not yet appeared at European web stores or the Microsoft Store. The sticks allow the software to be installed on systems without a DVD drive. More and more systems, including laptops and 2-in-1 systems, come without an optical drive. Incidentally, most installations will be through free upgrades, while a large proportion of users who purchase new PCs will find Windows 10 on their system by default.
