Lenovo Introduces IdeaPad Flex Convertibles With Optional Stylus

Lenovo has introduced several IdeaPad Flex laptops cum tablets that the company optionally supplies with a stylus. A variant of the most extensive model appears with an OLED screen with a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels. Chromebook models also appear.

Lenovo’s IdeaPad Flex 5 comes in variants with a 14″ screen and a 16″ screen. The regular Flex 5 models will be available with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon GPU. In addition, 5i models with Intel Alder Lake processors will appear, with the Core i7-1255U with Iris Xe GPU as the most powerful processor.

Only the Flex 5i with 14″ screen gets an optional OLED screen with a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels. The Flex 5 and Flex 5i with 16″ screens get an LCD with IPS panel with a maximum resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. Remarkably, Lenovo reports a maximum resolution of 2240×1440 pixels for the IdeaPad Flex 5 with 14″ screen and AMD CPU.

All four models have a touchscreen and flip for tablet mode, and Lenovo optionally provides a Lenovo Digital Pen or Lenovo E-color Pen for stylus operation. The starting price of the Flex 5i with 14″ screen is 500 euros and that of the Flex 5i with 16″ screen is 700 euros. These Intel CPU convertibles will be released in June. The models with AMD will be released in May and Lenovo asks 550 euros for the Flex 5 with 14 “screen and 700 euros for the 16” version.

With the IdeaPad Flex models, the screen is attached to the keyboard, but Lenovo is also introducing the IdeaPad Duet 5i with a detachable screen. This device is 9.45mm thick and has a 12.35″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and a maximum brightness of 450cd/m². Lenovo supplies this model with up to a Core i7-1255U. The starting price is 750 euros and sales start in June.

Finally, two Chromebooks appear in the IdeaPad Flex series. The Flex 5i Chromebook has a 14″ screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels, a Core i5 1235U and an SSD of up to 512GB. The Flex 3i Chromebook is larger with a 15.6″ screen, but the Pentium Silver N6000 is less powerful and this model has 128GB eMMC storage. The 5i Chromebook will cost 550 euros and will be released in June, the 3i variant will be released in May and will cost 450 euros.
