Lenovo announces ThinkPad X13s with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and 5G

Lenovo has announced the ThinkPad X13s with the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 soc and an optional X55 5G modem. In addition, Lenovo releases the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5, which comes with an Intel processor and 165Hz screen.

Due to the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, the ThinkPad X13s should distinguish itself with its long battery life. Lenovo mentions a battery life of 28 hours when playing video, but the manufacturer does not describe the exact scenario in which that duration is achieved. In addition, the laptop is passively cooled and weighs 1.06 kilograms.

The 13.3″ screen offers a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. For wireless connectivity, the Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 is present and this component offers support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. In addition, there is a Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit with Microsoft Pluton chip, for, among other things, the storage of passwords.The laptop runs Windows 11 Pro.The ThinkPad X13s will be released in May with a starting price of 1,400 euros.

The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5 is the top model of Lenovo’s ThinkPad series this year. The laptop will have a 16″ screen with various options in terms of display technology. For example, models will be available with a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, a 4K resolution and a maximum screen brightness of 600cd/m². The most powerful processor is an Intel Core i9 of the Alder Lake H-generation and optionally Lenovo provides the laptop with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

The manufacturer equips the variants with a maximum of 64GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM and two M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs with a maximum storage capacity of 4TB each. This laptop also supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 and 5G support is also optional with this model. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5 will be available in June for a starting price of 2750 euros.
