HMD Releases Nokia 6.1 Plus and 5.1 Plus Smartphone in India

HMD has announced the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus in India. Both devices are larger versions of the previously released Nokia 6.1 and 5.1. Both phones have a notch at the top of the screen.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus is the same phone as the X6 previously presented in China and has a Snapdragon 636-soc. This processor is assisted by a 4GB lpddr4X module as RAM and 64GB is available for storage, which can be expanded with a micro SD card.

Compared to the Nokia 6.1, the new Plus variant has a 5.8″ screen with a 19:9 ratio, compared to a 5.5″ screen with 16:9 ratio of the Nokia 6.1. The new phone is slightly smaller: 147.2x71x8mm versus 148.8×75.8×8.2mm.

On the back is a fingerprint scanner and a dual camera. It is a combination of a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 lens and a 5-megapixel camera for black and white photos, which also has an f/2.0 lens. The phone has a battery with a capacity of 3060mAh and charging is done via the USB-C connection. HMD has also added a 3.5mm headphone jack.

HMD has also announced the Nokia 5.1 Plus. The phone has the MediaTek Helio P60-soc and 3GB of RAM, while the Nokia 5.1 has a Helio P18-soc and 2GB of RAM. The internal memory has a capacity of 32GB and can be expanded up to 400GB with a micro SD card.

The device has a 5.86″ LCD with a 19:9 screen ratio. The Nokia 5.1 has a 5.5″ screen. The new Plus device is 149.5x72x8mm in size. The Nokia 5.1 Plus has a dual camera setup on the back, which is a combination of a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 lens and a 5-megapixel camera. As with the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the 5.1 Plus has a battery with a capacity of 3060mAh, a headphone jack and a USB-C connection for charging.

Both devices come with Android Oreo and have been announced for the Indian market. From the end of August, the Nokia 6.1 Plus will be released in India and in September it will be the turn of the Nokia 5.1 Plus. The Nokia 6.1 Plus comes out there for 16,000 rupees, converted that is 199 euros. If the device is released in the Benelux, that price will probably be higher, since the 4GB version of the Nokia 6.1 already costs roughly 299 euros here. HMD has not announced anything about a release in Europe or the Benelux.
