HMD Global releases a new version of the Nokia 3310, according to a statement from a Chinese approval authority. The version supports 4g networks and runs an OS based on the Android Open Source Project.

A device with the type name Nokia TA-1077 has gone through the certification procedure of the Chinese authority Tenaa and this concerns the 4G version of the 3310, NokiaMob noted. The design of the device is identical to that of the previous models, which only supported 2g and 3g. The screen diagonal is also 2.4 inches and the battery capacity is unchanged.

The only other change concerns the operating system, according to VTechgrapgy. The 4G device runs YunOS, which is based on the Android Open Source Project and is maintained by Alibaba Cloud. This OS is capable of running some Android apps, which may open up the possibility that the Nokia 3310 4g will support WhatsApp, for example.

The 3g version of the Nokia 3310 runs Feature OS and the 2g variant includes s30+. When the 4g version should appear and what it will cost is not known.
