GSC continues development of Stalker 2
Ukrainian development studio GSC Gameworld has announced that development of Stalker 2 will continue after the holidays. It is not yet clear who will be in charge of the studio, whose owner has resigned.
The team behind Stalker has via its Facebook page announced that work on shooting game Stalker 2 will resume after the holidays. In Ukraine, Christmas is celebrated on January 7, and many businesses are shut down for the first two weeks of the year. After this holiday period, the employees of GSC Gameworld will simply report back to work.
The future of Stalker 2 became unclear when it was announced in December that GSC Gameworld owner Sergei Grigorovich had closed the studio. The reason for his departure was not disclosed, but it was speculated that Grigorovich was unhappy with the progress of Stalker 2’s development. Another possible explanation is that GSC Gameworld was unable to find a publisher for the console versions of Stalker 2. version of the game alone would not bring in enough money. GSC Gameworld has not confirmed any of these statements.
It is not yet known who has taken over the studio. According to Eurogamer.net has, among others, the Ukrainian government is interested in taking over the company. It is not clear whether that actually happened or whether another investor was found. Stalker 2 has no publisher yet and no release date has been announced yet.
