Google will provide images with fact-check labelscheck

Google will now label images that are part of a fact check if they appear as a result in Google’s image search. The company will not fact-check the images itself.

Google provides images that are themselves the subject of a fact check or that belong to a fact check article, with a text label in Google Images. A text will appear next to the thumbnails that makes it clear that there are doubts about the facts regarding the image. If a user clicks on the image, Google will show more information about the claims and fact check.

This concerns fact checks performed by third parties and published in the ClaimReview format. ClaimReview is an open method that fact-checking sites can use to publish their work so that search engines can display it in the correct format. Google already uses this for its search engine, Google News and, in some countries, YouTube. Google also has a so-called Fact Check Explorer, which you can use to search for topics that have had a factual check.
