Google releases Cardboard Camera app
Google has released a camera app with cardboard support. Via the app it is possible to take 360-degree photos yourself, including ambient sounds. By subsequently ‘playing’ the photo in cardboard glasses, the environment can be experienced in ‘virtual reality’.
The software also manages to create a 3D feeling because objects that are closer when the photo is taken, also appear closer with the glasses on. The app itself gives help in taking a photo the right way by telling you exactly what to do.
The photo is taken in portrait mode, so when the Android smartphone or tablet is upright. Then the user has to move the camera slowly from a center point. If you move too fast, the app will indicate that. Google shared the app’s existence via a post on its official Google blog. The app is available in the Play Store.
