A gamer has assembled an adapter that allows the DualSense controller of the PlayStation 5 to be controlled with just one hand. The parts are all 3d printed and the design has been shared online.

The design Akaki Kuumeri created is intended to be controlled with the right hand. Because the controller has a symmetrical design, the parts only need to be printed out mirrored to make the adapter suitable for left-handers. In addition to the printable components, a number of additional parts are needed, such as plastic wire and rubber bands, to keep everything together.

For right-handed use, the accessory must be placed over the left stick, which can then be used by moving the entire controller. At the bottom of the adapter is a rubber platform, which must be held against a surface. By moving the controller, the plateau moves and with it the left stick. According to the designer, the wrist is not overloaded with this accessory, because the controller always rests on a surface.

As part of the adapter, the L1 and L2 buttons have been moved to the right side, right next to the R1 and R2 buttons. This makes it possible to press both L1 and R1 with the index finger, or L2 and R2, although this requires some dexterity.

If the four-point push button has to be used, an extra accessory can be placed on top of the adapter. This device, which resembles an Allen wrench, can be clicked onto the center of the controller. Pushing back one of the four blue-colored square ‘buttons’ on the right side, the corresponding direction on the four-point pushbutton is pressed. Because the extra accessory makes the controller quite cumbersome, the maker recommends using it only when necessary.

The maker has decided to use only plastic, and therefore no electrical components, in his accessory, to make it as accessible as possible. The creative designed this accessory as an entry to a competition to create the best one-hand controller. He previously made a joystick extension for the DualShock 4 in a similar way.
