The first smartwatch with Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 has been released. It concerns the Montblanc Summit 2 with Wear OS. The smartwatch has a suggested retail price of $995. It is unknown when next watches with the Wear 3100 will follow.

The Summit 2 takes advantage of the QC1110 co-processor by introducing a ‘time-only mode’ that extends battery life from a day to almost a week, while further disabling almost all sensors and showing only the time. This is done on a 1.2″ OLED screen with a resolution of 390×390 pixels.

In addition to the Wear 3100, the Summit 2 also has more memory and storage compared to its direct predecessor. The memory goes to 1GB, while Montblanc doubles the storage from 4GB to 8GB. The waterproof watch has GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and NFC. The housing is 14.3mm thick and the case is 42mm in diagonal. The housing contains a 340mAh battery. The smartwatch runs Google Wear OS.

Qualcomm unveiled the Wear 3100 last month. Like predecessor 2100, the 3100 has four Cortex A7 processor cores. Also new is that Qualcomm will give wearable makers the option to write code for sensors themselves. It is unknown when the next watches with the processor will be released.
