The first jailbreak for iOS 8 and 8.1 has been released. The jailbreak will not install Cydia on devices, as the alternative download store is not yet compatible with the new version of iOS.

As a result, the jailbreak of PanGu is currently only aimed at developers who want to make their jailbreak apps compatible with iOS 8. The jailbreak tool is currently only available for download for Windows. An OS X version will follow later, “but not in the near future,” so say the developers. The jailbreak tool is also in Chinese, an English version will follow within a few days.

It is the first jailbreak for iOS 8 and 8.1; more developers are involved, but the Chinese were also the first to jailbreak iOS 7 last year. Presumably they waited for the release of iOS 8.1 to see if the exploits used in iOS would still be there. Apple released iOS 8.1 on Monday. The jailbreak is compatible with all iOS devices, according to the team of developers.
