Nikon has for its Coolpix P7000 digital compact cameras released new firmware, with version number 1.2. These cameras have a 1/1.7″ rbg-ccd image sensor with 10.1 megapixels on board and have a built-in lens with a range of 28-200mm, bringing the optical zoom to 7.1x. from a Windows– or Mac OS Xmachine and is approximately 10MB in size. The list of changes for this update is as follows:

Changes in this version

  • The autofocus has been improved for more reliable focusing on the intended subject. This makes it less likely that the subject will not be in focus or the background will be in focus when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
  • Auto bracketing and the self-timer can now be enabled at the same time.
  • Aperture settings at or near maximum aperture were grayed out and apparently could not be selected (although selection was actually possible) when the following steps were performed. This issue has been resolved.
  • An aperture value other than maximum aperture was applied when shooting in [A] (aperture priority).
  • The camera was turned off.
  • The camera was turned back on.
  • User attempted to adjust aperture (aperture settings at or near maximum aperture were grayed out).
  • An issue that prevented the set function from executing if the shutter-release button was pressed while the Fn (function button) was pressed in mode [M] (manually), has been fixed.
  • An issue that in some rare cases resulted in incorrect shutter speed display in [M] (manually), has been fixed.
  • An issue that led to an asterisk
  • was displayed next to the Picture Control Vivid (COOLPIX Picture Control) when the user setting U3 was selected, where the asterisk was still displayed after the default values were restored, has been fixed.
  • The result of adjustments with White Balance>Choose Color Temperature, applying the P7000’s NRW (RAW) processing function to NRW (RAW) images, was the opposite of the result obtained by adjusting NEF (RAW)- images captured with Nikon digital SLR cameras (higher settings resulted in bluer images, while lower settings resulted in redder images). The settings of the P7000 have been reversed and the result is now comparable to that of D-SLR cameras.
  • An issue that in some rare cases caused NRW (RAW) images to become completely black when processed with the camera’s NRW (RAW) processing function or with RAW processing in ViewNX 2 has been resolved.

Fixed an issue that caused edges and outlines in images to look jagged when viewed on an HDTV with the camera connected to the TV with an HDMI cable. Version number
