Firmware Update: Abit AW8 Series 16

Abit has released a new BIOS with version number 16 for its AW8 series motherboards. The AW8, AW8-MAX and AW8-MAX 3rd Eye II receive improved support for various DDR2-667 memory modules with this update. The motherboards are based around an Intel 955X chipset that makes room for an Intel processor with an LGA775 socket. The list of changes since the first release is as follows:

Version 16:

  • Enhanced compatibility with certain DDR2-667 memories.
  • Update CPU microcode.
  • The POST screen now show correctly when ATI X1300 VGA card installed.

Version 15:

  • Support Presler/Cedar Mill CPU.
  • Support DDR2-800.
  • Support four 2GB memory.
  • Enhanced compatibility with certain PCI SCSI cards.

Version 14:

  • System now can resume from S3 without problem.
  • Add new item “Disable unused PCI clock” enable/disable” function.
  • The function “On-Chip Audio Controller” now works as intended.
  • Update CPU microcode.

Version 13:

  • Fixed the issue that the system may not be able to boot up from SiliconImage RAID controller when Intel RAID BIOS is enabled.
  • Memory frequency will be shown correctly when N/B Strap CPU as is set to “By CPU”
  • Pentium Extreme edition CPU now works as intended when HT is set disabled.
  • Enhanced DRAM compatibility.
  • Add new item ”On chip SATA RAID BIOS” enable/disable” function.

Version 12:

  • Enhanced DRAM compatibility.
  • Pentium D 840 now shows correct core voltage and frequency in the BIOS.
  • The color of the phone jack in the driver now matches the back panel.
  • Update CPU microcode.
  • Fixed the issue that the frequencies of a dual core processor may be different when C1E and EIST is set disabled.

Version 11:

  • Pentium D processors now can be correctly detected by the BIOS.
  • Add FSB 533MHz CPU support.
  • tRAS will be shown correctly now.
  • Fixed the issue that Windows can only recognize 2GB memory when there are 4GB installed.
  • Add new item “EIST Function”.

Version 10:

  • First release.
