Obsidian Entertainment will release Avowed in 2024. Microsoft announced this during its Xbox Games Showcase. The fantasy RPG is set in the universe of the Pillars of Eternity games. The game will be released for PCs and the Xbox Series X and S.

Avowed is set in the Living Lands, a ravaged island in the world of Eora, it turns out the trailer that Microsoft showed on Sunday evening. The developer says that this island consists of several parts, each with its own ecosystem of flora and fauna.

The video shows, among other things, gameplay footage with combat and monsters that players encounter along the way. Obsidian writes that first-person combat was “a big focus” for the studio. Players will have access to swords, shields, bows, pistols, magic and more. The game also has several companions. For example, the trailer shows Kai, a former soldier who joins the player’s group.

Obsidian announced Avowed back in 2020 with a short trailer, although few details about the game have been shared since. Now the studio reports that Avowed will be released next year. It is not known exactly when that will happen. According to previous rumors, Obsidian wants to release the game late next year, although the studio did not confirm that on Sunday evening.
