Dropbox suffers massive outage – update
The cloud storage service Dropbox is experiencing a major outage. Users can no longer log in via the website and uploading files does not work. The cause is not yet known, but Dropbox says it is working on the problem.
Around 3:30 p.m., messages surfaced on Twitter, among others, about a malfunction on Dropbox.com, while websites that measure uptime also notification create an unreachable Dropbox. Users can no longer log in via the web interface of the cloud storage service. Uploading files to Dropbox’s storage servers, which run on Amazon’s cloud platform, also doesn’t work for many users.
Dropbox leaves through its support account on Twitter know that the problems are known and that we are working hard to get the service back online. The cloud storage service does not name a cause, nor the expected time it will take to solve the problems.
Update, 5:02 PM: Dropbox now reports that the problems have been resolved. A cause of the malfunction is not mentioned.
