Intel has drivers available for the Linux platform for some of its Ethernet products. Most of these drivers are released under the GPL and developed on Sourceforge. There we also find the latest driver for the Intel Pro/100 Ethernet products. The version number has arrived at 3.0.27 and this is the first stable release in the 3.x development series. The release notes look like this:

Rendering 3.0.x development driver as the stable version. There are no planned releases of the 2.3.x driver.
