Download Driver For ATi Linux Driver 8.28.8
ATi released new display drivers for Linux a few days ago. They have issued version number 8.28.8, can work on all cards from the Radeon 8500 and are available for a 32-bit and 64-bit environment as a closed source driver. Besides some bug fixes, the most notable changes are support for ATi’s Pairmode and there are no separate downloads for each processor, but the installer ‘sees’ which model 32- or 64-bit processor is in the machine. The full changelog looks like this:
New Features
- Display Switching Support for IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad Products
- ATI Pair Mode Support
- Retaining Display Device State Between Restarts
- New Product Support
- Radeon Xpress 1200
- Radeon Xpress 1250
- Radeon Xpress 1300
- Unified Linux Proprietary Linux Driver
Resolved Issues
- Connecting a Dell Widescreen UltraSharp 2405FPW to the DVI port of any supported ATI product installed in a system running the X Server no longer results in the display failing to provide an image.
Known Issues
- Attempting to install the ATI Proprietary Linux driver on distributions that have updated certain 3D components outside of the stock XOrg 6.8.2 may result in the driver not initializing 3D applications properly.
- A system hang may occur when attempting to resume from hibernation mode.
- Loading the XVideo Extension on 64-bit Xorg 6.9+ systems causes the X Server to segfault on launch with ATI Radeon X1K products.
- Users with X Server X.org 7.1 can not play any video using XV. The ATI AVIVO Video adapter is not present.
