Dice has removed the duo queue from Battlefield V’s battle royale mode. This means that in Firestorm it is no longer possible for two players to get together in games where they have to compete against other pre-made duos.

A Dice community manager reports on Reddit that duo mode has been removed, as Squad mode is said to be more popular. He leaves it open whether the special mode for duos will return in the future. “We never say never. We’re confident we’ll see it again,” said the community manager.

The option to enter a game round in pairs was present for a weekend after release and was intended as a temporary look at this mode. Originally, the pairs option was designed as a temporary addition to the Grind and Rush game modes. After the duo mode was removed again, however, there was a lot of criticism. Dice then decided to maintain the pairs mode, but since then more and more players have switched to fours rounds. Dice says it’s reverting to the original plan for that reason, thus eliminating the special queue for duos.

Firestorm mode came out on March 25. This Battlefield V battle royale mode follows the familiar pattern of parachuting players onto a large playing field, where they then have to compete against others to be the last one standing. In addition, weapons and vehicles are available on the vast snowy playing field, which is getting smaller and smaller by an advancing ring of fire.
