A designer has shown dLight, a smart desk lamp from Google that is only available to employees and will never be for sale. The lamp can be controlled via Google Assistant and is intended to improve lighting during video meetings.

Designer Ben Gold shows a render of the lamp that employees can purchase, while there is also an FCC approval for the dLight. It shows that the desk lamp can connect via WiFi. Gold says that the desk lamp can be controlled via Google Assistant. Presumably this allows you to set whether it is on or off and with what intensity it burns. The color temperature can also be adjusted with it.

The lamp is only for sale to Google employees. Even then it is not free. According to tech editor Mishaal Rahman it costs around $170 or $180. It doesn’t look like Google will ever make the lamp available to the public.
