Concept: camera drone wearable can take off and land from wrist
As part of an Intel competition, a team of engineers came up with the idea of equipping a wearable quadcopter with a camera. The drone should take off and land from a wrist and film at the same time. The team can win the $500,000 Make It Wearable Grand Prize.
The team behind the Nixie is one of the finalists of the Make It Wearable Challenge, which Intel initiated nine months ago. The goal is to collect the ten best wearables ideas and implement those of the winner, using know-how and the prize of half a million dollars.
The team behind the Nixie started their project with an idea about flying smart glasses, but along the way it turned into a bracelet that can unfold itself and fly away like a quadcopter. The remote-controlled drone can then shoot video of the users. The results of the Make It Wearable Challenge will be announced by Intel on November 2.
