A Canonical bug list has revealed a codename that is in line with that of previously released Ubuntu smartphones. It can be deduced from the code name that Meizu is the manufacturer of the device.

That writes OMG Ubuntu. The codename Midori appeared in a Canonical bug list, related to the Telegram app. The name refers to Midori Norimaki, a character from Dragon Ball. Previous Ubuntu smartphones also had names from the manga series, such as the Bq Aquaris E4.5, which was called Krilin, and the M10 HD, which went by the name Frieza.

The Meizu MX4 and Pro 5 devices had the Dragon Ball codenames Arale and Turbo, respectively, and OMG Ubuntu points out that Midori, like those names, is related to the Dr. Slump universe. There are no further details about a possible arrival of a new Ubuntu smartphone from Meizu.

Meizu’s most recent Ubuntu smartphone is the Pro 5. This is a model with a 5.7″ OLED screen with 1920×1080 pixels and an Exynos 7420 octacore soc.
