Chris Metzen has returned to Blizzard Entertainment to help create World of Warcraft “and other projects” as a creative consultant. Metzen had been involved with the game since the beginning of Warcraft and was primarily responsible for its story.

Blizzard manager John Hight says for Chris Metzen to become a Creative Advisor within the Warcraft Leadership Team. In the beginning he will mainly focus on World of Warcraft, but later he will also look at ‘other projects within this growing franchise’. “Chris was one of the original team members when the Warcraft universe began in 1994 and we’re thrilled to be able to reunite him with the world he helped create.”

Metzen left Blizzard Entertainment in 2016 to spend time with his wife and children. He has worked on several Blizzard games, including World of Warcraft and its expansions, as well as the Warcraft movie and Overwatch. He also often announced new games at fan show Blizzcon. Since leaving Blizzard, he has founded a table-top gaming club in California: Warchief Gaming.
