BlackBerry: companies are interested in making BB10 smartphones

There are companies that have shown interest in manufacturing devices with BlackBerry 10. That is what a BlackBerry CEO said in an interview. The last smartphones with this operating system came out in 2015.

The CEO, Alex Turber, does not say in the interview with The Register which companies are interested in a license for BlackBerry 10. He does speak explicitly about several companies. Last week, BlackBerry announced it would stop developing its own smartphones and instead license its Android variant to other manufacturers.

Turber goes on to say that the talks are not advanced enough to say more about them. The manufacturer did not say before that there was interest in BlackBerry 10. Because he talks about ‘handsets’, it is unknown whether it concerns telephones or other equipment.

BlackBerry released the Passport and the Classic at the end of 2014, while the Leap from 2015 is the most recent device with BlackBerry 10 on board. The company says it will continue to support its own operating system in the coming period.
