Asus partners with EK and introduces a new motherboard in the Republic of Gamers series. The Maximus VIII Formula features a hybrid CrossChill cooling block and is suitable for both water and air cooling.

According to Asus, the built-in hybrid cooling block makes it unnecessary to install one yourself and users of the Z170 motherboard can easily get started with water cooling. The block should be compatible with most existing water cooling systems and should provide a temperature reduction of 23 degrees Celsius. The atx motherboard also features a 1151 socket for sixth generation Intel processors and supports ddr4 ram with its four memory slots. Also, it uses a SupremeFX 2015 audio card in conjunction with an ESS ES9023P dac.

There are both U2 and M2 connections available for, among other things, an NVME SSD. Other connections are two USB 3.1 ports, of which a type-a and a type-c, with ten USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 connections. In addition to three PCIe 2.0-x1 slots, the motherboard provides three PCIe 3.0-x16 slots that are suitable for both SLI and Crossfire. Finally, there are connections in the form of two SATA Express ports and eight SATA 600 ports.

In terms of appearance, the motherboard uses Aura LED lighting. With 28 of these lights, the whole can be provided with different RGB colors with a special tool. “ROG Armor” is also provided to strengthen the board and protect it from heat. Nothing is known about price and availability yet.
