Asus announced the ZenFone 6 on Thursday. The smartphone has a striking camera module that can be folded up. The battery capacity of the ZenFone 6 is a relatively large 5000mAh.

The camera module contains a 48-megapixel sensor, the Sony IMX586 , with f/1.79 lens and a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera. In addition, there is dual-LED flash. The camera can shoot video for slow motion playback at 1080p at 240fps, among other things.

By default, the cameras are rear-facing, but the module can flip up 180 degrees so that the cameras point forward and can be used for selfies. The folding camera ensures that no notch is needed in the screen for an integrated front camera. Oppo and Samsung recently came up with somewhat similar flip-up or flip-up camera modules.

The 6.4″ screen is an LCD with a resolution of 2220×1080 pixels and support for HDR10. The ZenFone 6 has a Snapdragon 855 from Qualcomm with up to 8GB of ram. The battery capacity is 5000mAh which is more than the majority of smartphones. According to Asus, the device can last for two days, but it is not known under what conditions it was tested to arrive at this claim. Asus supplies the device with Android 9 Pie with its ZenUI 6 shell and an update to Android Q is planned. It is not known when Asus will bring the smartphone to the Benelux. The prices are in any case 499 euros for the version with 6GB ram and 64GB storage, 559 euros for the variant with 6GB and 128GB and 599 euros for the Zenfone 6 with 8GB ram and 256GB storage capacity.
