Apple has announced that it will stop serving ads through iAd itself. This confirms the rumors that recently started doing the rounds. It seems that iAd should become an automated system that developers manage themselves.

On its developer website, Apple announces that it will no longer accept new applications for inclusion in the iAd network. Existing users of iAd will be able to use the services until June 30th and earn money by showing advertising. After that, Apple will withdraw from iAd.

With the reporting, Apple confirms earlier rumors that it would partially stop using iAd. Earlier this week, Buzzfeed reported that Apple would like to outsource the management of iAd. The site said that iAd itself would continue to exist. It seems that after June 30 it will still be possible to create and display advertisements yourself, without Apple acting as an intermediary. As a result, developers are no longer dependent on Apple, and they no longer have to give up 30 percent of the revenue, according to the leaked plans.

Apple announced the iAd advertising service in 2010, competing with companies such as Google. It seems that the Cupertino-based company has not been able to attract enough customers to continue to provide services in the current way.

Update 12:53 PM: iAd does not seem to stop completely, on which the article has been adapted.
