Android 4.0 update for Motorola Xoom pops up
A software update has been released that brings Android Ice Cream Sandwich to the Motorola Xoom. The software is currently available as a test version for a select group of users, but can be installed manually.
The software update, which was offered over-the-air to a small group of users, was published on the forum of XDA Developers and it appears with a manual installable to be on the Xoom tablet. However, only the WiFi version seems suitable: another software update may be made for the 3G variant.
The update file is probably intended for US users. Nevertheless, the software also works on European versions of the Xoom. It is likely that there will also be an official ICS update for Xooms released in Europe.
Motorola was the first manufacturer with its Xoom to release a tablet with Android Honeycomb. The manufacturer collaborated with Google for this. Earlier it was announced that the tablet would receive an update to Android ICS.
