Amazon Alexa can speak to visitors via Ring video doorbells

Amazon is adding a feature to Ring video doorbells to allow Alexa to speak to visitors. In addition, the digital assistant can take a message or tell postmen where to leave a package.

In addition to Alexa responses, which only work on the Ring Video Doorbell Pro, users can also add Quick Responses themselves, the company reports. With those answers, customers can set up responses to say they’re not there or that it will take them a while to get to the front door. Viewing the images and hearing the answers from the visitor can be done via Live View.

Wired doorbells and various Ring security cameras will also have the option to warn visitors. In addition, the bell lets someone know that he or she is being answered. This is done on the basis of movement. It is unknown when exactly the features will be live. The features require a Ring Protect subscription.
