All NOS Journaal broadcasts can be seen in HD in spring 2015

From the spring of 2015, all broadcasts of the NOS Journaal and Nieuwsuur can be seen in HD, the NOS promises. Most broadcasts, except those of 6 and 8 p.m., can already be seen in higher quality.

The studio where all news except those of 6 and 8 o’clock are made, is now suitable for HD broadcasts, according to the NOS. All broadcasts since 12 noon last Sunday afternoon can therefore be seen in HD. In recent months, the control room has been overhauled to make HD broadcasts possible.

The studio’s control room, which is used for the 6 and 8 p.m. broadcasts, will soon be renovated. From the spring of next year that should provide HD broadcasts, the NOS promises. Current affairs program Nieuwsuur must then also be shown in HD. It is unclear why it took so long for newscasts to receive HD support: the broadcaster’s sports programs have been shown in HD for much longer. NOS could not be reached for comment.
