From next year, the AI assistant of video calling software Zoom will provide feedback on how users speak in meetings and their presentation skills. The company has announced this.

Zoom calls the software AI Companion and it has functions in various areas. This makes it possible to get a summary so far when users enter a meeting later. Users can also ask whether their name has already been mentioned and in what context.

In the less used chat software, Zoom can summarize the AI Companion chats and suggest answers to give. The company has also given the AI features in its other services, such as a collaboration tool and mail client.

Only paying customers get access to AI Companion. Some of the features are available immediately, while the more advanced features will follow in the spring of 2024. It seems the features are only available in English. Zoom uses a proprietary language model, in addition to Meta’s Llama 2, OpenAI’s GPT models, and Anthropic.
